On 12 October, the European Parliament Intergroup on Cancer and Rare Diseases and Stine Bosse MEP will convene an expert dialogue on the proposed EU Biotech Act, exploring the opportunities it presents for Europe's cancer and rare disease communities.

The first session will delve into the research reform and Europe’s capacity to foster biotechnology innovation, exploring how the Biotech Act can reduce regulatory and administrative barriers, improve the environment for clinical research and strengthen cross-border collaboration. It will also focus on populations with distinct research needs, including children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

A second session will then examine how the Act can widen patient access to innovative medicines and how Europe can turn scientific advances into treatments that reach patients more quickly and fairly. Discussion will focus on advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs), manufacturing and investment, and reducing inequalities in access across Europe.

Throughout the dialogue, speakers will be invited to propose concrete recommendations for policymakers – helping ensure the EU Biotech Act supports research, innovation and equitable patient access for people with cancer and rare diseases.
